About Me

I have worked in a variety of positions, within various settings and sectors in my life, and I found many of these jobs to be unfulfilling. Eventually, I came to a point in my life where I wanted to do something more rewarding which included helping others.

I chose my career in counselling some years ago and I have been providing professional counselling services since 2006 in various settings.

I trained in the Person Centred Approach because I believe that a therapeutic relationship based on empathy, understanding, and non-judgement are essential and can help someone accept who they really are and reconnect with themselves.

What does BACP stand for?

BACP stands for British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy. BACP is the largest professional body representing counsellors and psychotherapists in the UK.

Being an accredited counsellor means that I have achieved a substantial level of training and experience that has been approved by BACP.

Where do I practice from?

I am based in the South West of England and cover Bristol, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and Somerset as well as South Wales.

Introduction to Counselling

Most of us at some point in our life feel that we could benefit from or feel the need for some form of help or support. Sometimes life can seem really difficult or challenging, or there maybe a sense of being stuck or unclear of what direction to take.

Feeling the need for and asking for help is not always easy, nor is it a sign of failure. In many ways it is a sign of strength, of acknowledgment and awareness that something needs to change. Seeking support is a positive step forward and counselling can be a place for that to happen.

Counselling can help you:

  • Improve your overall well-being
  • Find solutions to current or past problems
  • Heal your emotional past
  • Gain a fresh perspective
  • Understand and gain insight into yourself
  • Help you cope with things
  • Develop life skills

What type of counselling do I provide?

The type of counselling I provide is Humanistic / Integrative. My approach focuses on a persons self-worth and values. My aim is to provide a therapeutic space - taking the view that every individual has the internal resources that they need, to grow and develop as a human being to their full potential.

I also employ other methods and techniques that may suit your needs and preferences, including Life Coaching.

What I offer

I strive to create a space where you will feel heard, acknowledged and supported to be yourself, exactly as you are. I aim to understand you, as you are right now and ensure that you are always at the centre of our therapeutic relationship.

I will accept you for being you; and for being the unique individual that you are. This time will be just for you to speak openly and truthfully, to express and explore your feelings and emotions, including aspects of your life that may feel difficult to talk about.

I will encourage you to explore and gain insight into your unique self and your situation in life. Facilitating and supporting you to find the answers and direction that will take you where you want to be and improve your overall well-being.

As well as providing Counselling, I also work with a person's "whole system". Please visit my website for further information on the treatments that I provide: www.well-beingtherapy.co.uk
